Feb 5, 2002. After taking steps to reorganize and restructure its business operations, MicroStrategy is posting a Q4 quarter profit. The company had fourth quarter revenue of $43.2 million in 2001. Pro forma net operating results from continuing operations improved from a loss of $5.0 million in the third quarter of 2001 to a profit of $7.4 million in the fourth quarter of 2001. MicroStrategy says the improvement in earnings is due to higher gross profit margins and a $10.5 million reduction in operating costs. "The turnaround is the direct result of the streamlined cost structure and strong fiscal controls we put in place in 2001," says MicroStrategy Chief Executive Officer Michael J. Saylor.
