The second annual INFORMS DATA MINING CONTEST 2009, co-organized by IBM Research and Health Care Intelligence. The submission deadline is 9/25 and the site is located at

The 2009 INFORMS Data Mining Contest is the second installation of a data mining contest that started last year in conjunction with the INFORMS conference. This year's contest is co-organized on behalf of INFORMS by the Predictive Modeling Group at IBM Research and Health Care Intelligence (HCI-LLC). Once again we will focuses on predictive problems for health care quality.

The two tasks for this year's contest are:

1) modeling of a patient transfer guideline for patients with a severe medical condition from a community hospital setting to tertiary hospital provider and

2) assessment of the severity/risk of death of a patient's condition.

We are looking forward to an interesting contest. We invite you to register for the contest using the link at the left, and submit your predictions by September 25. In addition, please consider giving a talk at the Contest session at the INFORMS conference. Workshop acceptance will be based on successful submissions to the Contest. Finally, we invite you to prepare a paper describing your methods and insights that will be considered for publication in a Special Issue in a data mining journal (to be determined).
