WIT Press has just published this book, which is a compilation of papers presented at the ninth in a series of international conferences on data and text mining are now available. The conference was held in Cadiz, Spain, May 26-28, 2008, organized by the Wessex Institute of Technology in collaboration with the University of Cadiz, Spain and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The annual conference provides a platform to discuss the theory and applications of data mining, with emphasis each year on a particular aspect. In the last few years the focus has been on topics such as Customer Relationship Management, Competitive Intelligence, Business and Information Engineering. The present volume contains papers on Security, which has now become an important theme of research.
