Job Responsibilities/The Role/The Job
Would your ideal day be spent looking at real data, playing with a search engine to understand how it works and could be improved, and talking to people to share what you've learned and find out what problems they need help solving?

Yahoo! Search is passionate about building the best search platform in the world, and we do more than 100 million searches every day. As a Sponsored Search Relevance Analyst, you will help to improve the relevance and revenue of our monetized search products. You will work with people across the search team to measure performance, identify problems, and find solutions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work with the search testing team to define and interpret tests of relevance and monetization.
  • Gather and analyze data to measure and improve search relevance, revenue, and user experience.
  • Consult with engineering, product, and business teams to identify their information requirements and provide the answers they need.
  • Become a guru on how Sponsored Search works, why it performs the way it does, and how it could be improved.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
  • Solid statistical knowledge and intuition
  • Fluency in Python, Perl, or another scripting language.
  • Experience in handling huge data sets a plus
  • Experience or interest in search engines and information retrieval.
  • Experience in SQL a plus
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with people from a variety of technical and non-technical backgrounds
  • Great attention to detail. Ability to multi-task effectively.
Preferable Job Qualifications
M.S. or Ph.D. in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or equivalent
