BriefsIndependent Survey Names SPSS Predictive Analytics Number One Choice Among Data MinersMonday December 10, 9:00 am ET Achievements in 2007 Demonstrate Growing Momentum for Predictive Analytics Technology http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/071210/20071210005170.html?.v=1 CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SPSS Inc. (Nasdaq: SPSS - News), a worldwide provider of predictive analytics software, today announced that its data mining technology has been ranked as the leading choice in an independent survey published by Rexer Analytics. This latest recognition builds on the success achieved by SPSS in 2007, further establishing its leadership position in the predictive analytics market. The Rexer Analytics report, "Surveying the Field: Data Mining Applications, Analytic Tools, and Practical Challenges," found almost one-half (48 percent) of data mining professionals from more than one dozen industries and 35 countries identified SPSS over SAS and other competitors as their most frequently used data mining tool.1 The survey also found SPSS as the tool of choice for data miners engaged in customer relationship management (CRM) and telecommunications. "Our report analyzes the activities, views and concerns of more than 200 data miners and gives a comprehensive reflection of the challenges faced by the data mining community today," said Karl Rexer, Ph.D., founder and principal of Rexer Analytics. "One clear finding is that data miners who care strongly about ease-of-use, data manipulation capabilities and the ability to handle very large data sets are more likely to use SPSS."
