First European Summer School on
Knowledge Discovery for Ubiquitous Computing

The European Coordination Action KDubiq (6FP, IST-FET Open, 021321) seeks new challenges for knowledge discovery (data mining) in the fields of ubiquitous computing. Analysis of data in various distributed and ubiquitous environments such as sensor networks, peer- to-peer networks, embedded systems, mobile computing devices, and grid computing platforms demands new types of knowledge discovery algorithms. Work done in this area is dispersed among several communities and in a very early stage. In order to integrate various fields, it is necessary to establish a common ground.

The 1st European Summer School on Knowledge Discovery for Ubiquitous Computing offers an introduction to the relevant topics and presents first exemplary approaches to discovering knowledge under various constraints in computing, storage, communication, and human-computer interaction. Topics of the summer school range from Embedded Systems (Peter Marwedel), Wireless Networks (Gregory Chockler), Grid Computing (Thomas Weishaeupl) to Mining Music in P2P Networks (Katharina Morik), Data Mining in the Life Sciences (Arno Siebes), Privacy Preserving Data Mining (Francesco Bonchi, Fosca Giannotti), and Algorithms for Distributed Mining (Hillol Kargupta).

Lectures are well suited for professionals who want to monitor upcoming technology or for the students who want to become involved in this new research area.

Please, note that the number of participants is limited. Since we follow a first come - first served policy, early registration is recommended.
