lastminute.com is the biggest travel and entertainment web site in Europe, and together with Travelocity Europe we run more than 30 sites in 11 countries. We're looking for the best and brightest to form a new team to develop a range of innovative personalisation and recommendation products. The team will work closely with people across the business as well as with Travelocity HQ in the US, and will have high visibility across the organisation. The role requires a creative engineer looking for significant challenges, willing to think big, with experience leading projects.

Required qualifications/education:

• Minimum 3 years industry experience
• Excellent Java skills
• Expertise in rapid prototyping with a variety of scripting languages and systems (e.g., Python, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Linux, Apache, Javascript)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Deep understanding of one or more of: machine learning, data mining, HCI, GIS/mapping systems, CRM systems
• Degree in Computer Science, Masters or PhD preferred
• R&D experience or evidence of innovation advantageous
