The Analytic Science Lead is the second of the professional series beginning with Analytic Science Engineer and culminating at Analytic Science Manager. Working simultaneously on many projects, the Analytic Science Lead, with minimal guidance from more senior staff members, gathers, examines, and analyzes data; writes technical specifications for manipulating data; produces reports, graphs, and summaries; and confers with customer liaison contacts.

Job Responsibilities:

Uses appropriate tools and techniques to analyze a variety of data sources; Given the specific research topic, determines data and procedures best-suited to yield conclusive results; writes analyses documenting results; Analyzes and evaluates various complex and sophisticated performance definitions, sampling approaches, and segmentation alternatives for new developments; Anticipates and resolves operational problems and questions concerning analysis of data; Designs and implements new characteristic generation logic for both predictive and performance evaluation; ensures design minimizes data reporting problems and inconsistencies; examines output for conformity with expectations; investigates unusual totals or patterns, draws conclusions and recommends corrective steps when appropriate; Designs and specifies stratified sampling schemes. Audits and evaluates data received from programmers to ensure consistency; Engineers score weights development; determines which analytic approaches are best-suited for a particular desired result; in conjunction with a Analytics Lead, evaluates output, formulates and tests hypotheses, weighs alternatives, and determines subsequent direction; Confers with customer representatives to obtain information and to resolve problems; presents or assists in presenting information at customer meetings held at project inception and at completion; Provides training on standard tools and oversight for small project tasks to newer staff; Maintains quality control and ensures the maintenance of proper project documentation; Produces custom validations and writes analyses; packages general results as Case Studies and other marketing materials.

Minimum Qualifications:

MS in a technical field, or equivalent professional experience beyond the baccalaureate degree. Experience with scoring technology in a development or research role, including developing scoring algorithms, either with Fair Isaac at the Analytics Engineer or Analytics Lead level, or elsewhere at an equivalent level, is required. Course work in probability, statistics and quantitative methods required, including at least one semester of an applied statistics class; Knowledge of: Scoring technology and methodologies; Model development techniques and tools; Advanced statistical methods and quantitative analysis; Statistical tools and programs; Familiarity with Java and/or C++ or other similar object oriented programming language. Skill to: Quantify, define, and specify the logical steps to produce a general objective or goal; Examine data and detect possible problems; create and test hypotheses about causes and cures; Use object oriented programming to prepare databases for statistical analysis; Approach a given problem from various angles, recognizing differing applicable techniques to determine the best-suited course of action; Learn and utilize new tools and technologies and determine which best fits a particular project need; explore and evaluate ways in which various tools can be modified, or used together to minimize manual processing; Recognize inefficient or ineffective procedures and take steps to improve; Improvise and modify existing procedures and tools to fit new, non-standard situations; Communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing with persons having diverse backgrounds of knowledge and experience; teach complex concepts and explain technical material to non-technical personnel; Adjust to a fluctuating workload; juggle priorities and withstand pressure of deadlines and operating problems; Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with people at all levels of Fair Isaac and client organization.
