Barcelona Becomes Technological Centre For Market Research Professionals

On February, 1 -- 3, the Intercontinental Princesa Sofia Hotel in Barcelona will host ESOMAR's market research technology & innovation conference.

A wide range of innovative marketing research technologies are now being deployed to generate insight and help businesses succeed. These technologies are actively helping companies to be in touch' with the opinions, attitudes and behaviours of customers in often new and innovative ways. This information is then helping to improve the speed and quality of decision making.

"Keeping 'up to speed' with this technological 'whirlwind' is, however, a significant challenge to all of us. These developments can change the way we work and help us develop new competencies to help decision makers turn data into action. Keeping up to date is important since missing out on the next 'killer application' maybe at best a lost opportunity or, at worst, a business killer", says Martin Oxley programme committee chairman and MD, NFO Europe Interactive, UK.

Main themes will be discussed: Research technology's role throughout the marketing supply chain; the process of research innovation: push and pull factors; the value exchange; the importance of design in websites and web surveys; state of the art perspectives; how technology shapes market research and market research shapes technology?, among others.

An impressive line of multinational companies from Europe, North America and Asia discussed these realities, among others: Unilever, IBM, NOP, NFO, Vodafone, Harris Interactive, Burson-Marsteller, etc.

The marketing and opinion research industry now accounts for some Euro 17 billion and employs more than 650,000 people worldwide. Ten countries account for over 80% of the global turnover and nearly 60% of research turnover is accounted by the largest 25 companies.

ESOMAR's mission is to promote the use of Opinion and Market Research for improving decision making in business and society worldwide. Founded in 1948, ESOMAR unites 4000 members in 100 countries. The Society facilitates the exchange of experiences between suppliers and users of research in order to optimize the integration of research results into the decision making process.
