Children's Memorial Hospital Receives InfoWorld 100 Award

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 9, 2004--

Leading U.S. pediatric hospital is recognized for leveraging powerful data mining and text mining technologies from SPSS Inc.

Children's Memorial Hospital has been recognized as one of the 2003 InfoWorld 100 thanks to its use of SPSS Inc.'s (NASDAQ:SPSS) data mining and text mining solutions. The InfoWorld 100 is an annual award that honors organizations that have demonstrated the most creative use of cutting-edge technologies to further the achievement of their business goals.

"This is a wonderful honor," said Eric Bremer, Ph.D., director of the brain tumor research program at Children's Memorial Hospital and associate professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. "Leveraging SPSS' data and text mining tools is helping us to realize one of our main goals, the development of a gene expression 'knowledge base' for pediatric brain tumors. Ultimately, we hope that this will result in more effective treatments by enabling us to predict how a patient may respond to a therapy."

Here is the rest of the story.
