Systems and methods for data mining and interactive presentation of same,
07/26/07, Patent Inventors: John J. Brier, Bin Tu
Applicaton #: 20070174440 Class: 709223000 (USPTO)

A data mining and presentation system including a first processor for obtaining data of interest to a user from one or more data sources. The first processor designed to receive one or more user specified parameters in connection with the data, and in communication with the data sources via a telecommunication network. A second processor in communication with the first processor, the second processor receiving and manipulating the data for presentation to the user in accordance with parameters specified by the user. The manipulated data being presented via a telecommunication network to one or more user platforms.

This invention relates generally to the field of data mining in areas, such as, lottery results, sports, finance and entertainment, and the creation of a system to distribute such data through the Internet and/or wireless devices.

System and architecture for enterprise-scale, parallel data mining,
Patent Inventors: Inderpal Singh Narang, Ramesh Natarajan, Radu Sioh
Applicaton #: 20070174290 Class: 707010000 (USPTO)

A grid-based approach for enterprise-scale data mining that leverages database technology for I/O parallelism and on-demand compute servers for compute parallelism in the statistical computations is described. By enterprise-scale, we mean the highly-automated use of data mining in vertical business applications, where the data is stored on one or more relational database systems, and where a distributed architecture comprising of high-performance compute servers or a network of low-cost, commodity processors, is used to improve application performance, provide better quality data mining models, and for overall workload management. The approach relies on an algorithmic decomposition of the data mining kernel on the data and compute grids, which provides a simple way to exploit the parallelism on the respective grids, while minimizing the data transfer between them. The overall approach is compatible with existing standards for data mining task specification and results reporting in databases, and hence applications using these standards-based interfaces do not require any modification to realize the benefits of this grid-based approach.

Systems and methods for acquiring analyzing mining data and information
Patent Inventors: Charles D. Hartwig, Robert Marciello, Stuart Kippelman
Applicaton #: 20070168338 Class: 707003000 (USPTO)

The present invention provides a method of acquiring, analyzing and mining data and/or information of interest by searching at least one database using at least one primary search term to obtain data and/or information that contains the information of interest to obtain raw data set; applying a data mining tool to the raw data set to obtain mined data; and applying a user interface to the mined data to obtain a visualization of the information of interest.

[0005] The present invention further encompasses use of the method in or to a machine or combination of machines with a computer programmed to perform the method; an article with instructions for performing the method; a method of doing business by conducting the method and providing results therefrom; a system for conducting the method; and reports generated thereby.

Systems and methods for mining data from a game history for a gaming system
Patent Inventors: Craig J. Sylla, Mark C. Pace, Chad A. Ryan, Dale R. Buchholz, Mark B. Gagner
Applicaton #: 20070191111 Class: 463043000 (USPTO)

Systems and methods receive and analyze game history data to discover relationships in the data. The relationships may then be used to determine which game components are downloaded to a gaming machine or which actions are performed for a particular player. The game components may include banner content, advertising content, denomination data, pay table, language data, video content, audio content, episodic game data, and wagering game software.

Graph generating method, graph generating program and data mining system
08/30/07, Patent Inventor: Shigeru Saito
Applicaton #: 20070203870 Class: 706 52 (USPTO)

The invention has the object of obtaining, at a high rate of success, graphs indicating the relationships between variables indicating the states of observed items which are the subjects of data mining, and improving the reliability of the outputted graphs. A method for generating a graph showing the relationships between variables comprises a step S2 of establishing a number of graphs to be generated, a step S5 of randomly establishing an order of variables X forming the set of all variables V, a step S6 of performing a process of reconstructing a graph showing the relationships between variables, and a step S10 of outputting a comprehensive graph including all edges existing in any of the graphs generated with each graph generation. In the graph reconstruction process, an inverse matrix of the correlation coefficient matrix is calculated, and the operation of determining the conditional independence relating to two variables which are the subject of the conditional independence determination is skipped if any of the diagonal elements relating to the two variables is greater than a predetermined threshold value.

Database mining for customer targeting
07/26/07, Patent Inventors: David Fox, Kelli Fox
Applicaton #: 20070174250

The present invention discloses a system and method for generating a subset of relevant entries. In one embodiment, a module comprises an input, a mapper, an extractor, a comparer, and an output. The input accepts a request from a user and the mapper maps the request to a predetermined formula corresponding to a range of birthdates. The extractor extracts birthdate information from each of a plurality of database entries and the comparer compares the extracted birthdate information to the range of birthdates. Entries within the range are flagged and the output generates a subset of relevant entries based on the flagged entries.
