Title: Sr. Product Manager, Network Optimization, Content Match

We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and highly-motivated Sr. Product Manager to provide leadership in building the next generation of networked advertising solutions for Yahoo and the broader universe of internet publishers. Yahoo's Content Match business is a dynamic ad network designed to optimize the ROI of Yahoo's unmatched advertiser base and the revenue of participating publishers through a combination of various targeting and optimization capabilities, such as contextual targeting.

The Sr. Product Manager, Network Optimization, will be well versed in data driven, constrained optimization systems and internet advertising, with a proven track record in fluid, complex business environments and will have demonstrated success in guiding the development of mission-critical business systems. This position requires an energetic, experienced self-starter with a history of successful product initiatives. This position will be instrumental in guiding the vision and design of future advertising capabilities. The position requires engagement with many levels within the business as a visionary and champion; to plan, organize, motivate and communicate. Additionally, this role will focus on solid execution, guiding critical business trade off decisions in product functionality. The successful candidate must be passionate about the internet, digital media and implementing practical, high value added systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Help make a rapidly growing business unit leap frog the competition and bring Yahoo's full asset base to bear on a highly competitive ad network market and aggressively take share and producing next generation products for our customers
  • Help define the direction and design of the systems and associated business and engineering operations by optimizing revenue decisions across a very large scale, efficient marketplace advertising network
  • Flourish in, and help establish, a culture of idea generation, experimentation and rapid innovation
  • Work with multiple cross-functional teams to elicit, understand, rationalize and prioritize requests for new functionality. A sound, practical sense for what can be delivered and can impact the business is a must.
  • Ensure that selected priorities move forward aggressively and schedules are hit. Speed to market is an advantage.
  • Coordinate needs, design directions and architecture choices across the company as multiple businesses and platforms will all support the larger vision
  • Understand business process and policy dependencies for delivering new products and facilitate discussions to assess and address critical requirements.
  • Understand critical paths and dependencies for delivering and launching products and facilitate discussions between business teams, product management, corporate IT and Y!SM engineering.
  • Aggregate, organize, and synthesize product information in order to design solid pragmatic enhancements and communicate with senior business leaders and key constituents.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Qualified candidates will be seasoned product management professionals who have a strong customer orientation and desire to be innovative in the development of world-class business solutions that will impact sales, marketing, service and many other facets of the Y!SM business.
  • They will be a very proactive, entrepreneurial and strategically oriented individuals with experience in all stages and aspects of product management with a proven history of delivering complex technology products and solutions to market.
  • Candidates will have experience in internet advertising, campaign and yield optimization. Related experience in similarly structured revenue optimization and / or financial markets is a help. Experience in constraint based optimizations and practical experience in applying such knowledge in the real world a must.
  • Candidates must possess the ability to build an excellent rapport with internal business constituents; product managers; engineers and technologists and industry visionaries to synthesize requirements for product roadmaps and to set priorities.
  • Candidates must be able to develop an excellent grasp of the strategic, competitive and economic dimensions of Yahoo!'s business.
  • Candidates must be flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines imposed by rapid business growth, including the ability to multi-task and juggle many competing priorities and deadlines.
  • The ability to move forward and execute on incremental improvements rapidly where possible
  • Demonstrated ability to work with interdisciplinary teams and effectively communicate priorities, delivery expectations, risks and concerns to senior management.
  • Strong organizational, design and execution skills.
  • Ability to be extremely detail oriented and to use analysis to drive decisions. Knowledge of financial markets and systems a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and extremely detail oriented.
  • Candidates with direct experience in internet publisher ad serving, advertiser ad serving, network yield and campaign optimization are very strongly preferred.
Minimum Experience & Education Required:

Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years of relevant experience as a leader for product management in an ASP software company, large-scale IT operation or new business that successfully grew to large size.
  • Prior experience with DART, ATLAS, Poindexter and other internet advertising systems a plus
  • Experience in analysis driven marketing decision systems a plus or similar financial trading and risk analysis decision systems
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office, MS Project, and familiarity with Collaboration and Content Management tools.
Education:
  • A Bachelors of Science or financial degree from a top school is required.
  • An advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics or Mathematics or relevant work experience in software development is a plus.
  • Additional education or training in formal product management practices and tools is highly desired.
