Business Title: Sr. Operations Research Analyst (algorithms, statistical model and optimization)
Primary Job Responsibilities
Responsible for all aspects of developing new products for search optimization, including research & development, requirements, prototypes, code, testing, and deploying new mathematical algorithms and software products to improve eBay's search marketing effort.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop operations research algorithms and statistical models (optimization methods) to improve the performance of eBay's Paid Search program, including cost-per-click (CPC) optimization, cross-search partner optimization, day-parting, geo-targeting, and predictive modeling
- Prototype and test optimization methods on large, multi-dimensional data sets
- Work closely with the product development team to migrate successful prototypes into enterprise software components and products
Analysis and Consulting
- Analyze complex data sets to determine bid strategies and performance improvement recommendations on key metrics for the organization: acquisition, retention, revenue, profit, etc. by subject area and partner
- Work with Internet Marketing staff to understand and use the data, optimization methods, and performance improvements
- Provide support to IT development team on new system features, requirements, and workflows
- Interface with the Search Marketing team on integrating optimization technology into search marketing projects
- Research and analysis of market trends and become a subject matter expert on the use of optimization methods in the search marketing industry
Job Requirements
The optimal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- 5+ years (3+ years with a PhD)experience as an Operations Research Analyst
- Scientific programming experience required
- Machine learning/multivariate statistical modeling experience preferred
- Previous search marketing experience a plus
MS in Operations Research, Management Science, or Mathematical Statistics is required; PhD strongly preferred
