Primary Job Responsibilities:

The QA Statistician/Global Rules Analyst will report to the Trust & Safety Global Rules Manager, and be dedicated to ensuring the quality of computational rules used to monitor and control activity on eBay's website. The QA Statistician/Global Rules Analyst will analyze and test new versions of rules, manage change control procedures, work with engineering and operations to ensure safe deployment to the production site, and perform post-deployment evaluation of rule performance. This role emphasizes the use of statistical analysis as the primary tool in the quality assurance process.

Summary of responsibilities:

1. Use a QA environment to run tests against new versions of rules, and perform statistical analysis to determine discrepancies in rule performance
2. Evaluate rules in production against their business goals and make recommendations for adding, changing or removing rules
3. Manage and enforce change control process with rule authors
4. Identify ways to improve the rules QA environment, and work with PM, engineering and IT as necessary to implement improvements
5. Coordinate deployment of rules to production together with operations and engineering. Monitor and resolve any issues during deployment

Job Requirements: Education and/or Relevant Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics. Minimum three years quality assurance or software development experience required, plus proven ability to perform statistical analyses using SAS across complex data schemas. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate high energy/creativity, good organizational and project management skills, a relentless customer-focus, an entrepreneurial spirit, strong interpersonal and communication skills, a thorough understanding of eBay business goals, and superb attention to detail.
