Research Center of major insurance/financial services company is looking for a Research Associate to conduct basic research in risk management and related topics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop creative solutions to business problems
• Perform exploratory data analysis
• Identify and investigate new research methods and data source
• Create and validate predictive models
• Communicate project progress to colleagues and management
• Work within teams to integrate findings and models into company operations
• Collaborate with research staff to integrate a cross-functional perspective into research projects.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Ph.D. preferred in Operations Research, Math, Statistics or related field
• Masters with equivalent experience also acceptable.
• 2+ Years work or applied research experience that includes project management/leadership
• Demonstrated capability in analyzing data and integrating such analysis into general conclusions to solve business problems or to support company strategies
• Experience with multivariate regression, clustering or other data mining techniques such as decision trees
• Strong writing and presentation skills
• Ability to think broadly and creatively. Ability to learn quickly and to apply new tools and techniques
• Strong listening and communications skills � highly collaborative work style yet must demonstrate ability to work independently
• Experience with large datasets, & both Mainframe & UNIX platforms preferred
• Proficiency in software tools (SAS or SPSS) is essential
• Willingness to acquire knowledge of company databases and to keep current with new technologies
• Insurance industry experience a plus
