Research Scientist

Role Summary:

As a research scientist, you will be involved in data analysis, algorithm and model development, computational design/implementation, and documentation and presentation of technical information. You will quickly and thoroughly learn new tools and theories, and apply them to current problems. The research scientist will effectively prototype computational designs and direct, implement and optimize the algorithms. The research scientist will also apply these algorithms and applications to real client data and discuss results of modeling solutions with other areas of the business.

Contributions: 1) Identify, solve and deliver solutions to problems in multiple areas of clinical prediction algorithms, outcomes analysis, actuarial modeling, customer and consumer segmentation, and consumer behavioral analysis and simulation.

2) Develop algorithms, strategies and methodologies using the latest technologies in neural networks, machine learning, statistical modeling, pattern recognition, and artificial intelligence to support model generation for computationally intelligent software components. Prototype and optimize algorithms in a software language. Develop detailed design specifications to guide the implementation and qualification of the solution.

3) Participate in architectural definition, design, prototyping, implementing, and analysis of applications.

4) Develop test cases and strategies to demonstrate correct algorithm performance. Develop computational performance measures and testing strategies to demonstrate satisfactory execution times when solving realistic problems.

5) Working in a team environment with business and optimization experts, develop new solutions and configure existing solutions utilizing large and messy data sets. Communicate the results and benefits to non-technical areas.

Environmental Requirements
Proven ability to adapt to changing requirements by quickly designing and implementing new algorithms and program features, due to short research and development cycles.
The ability to critically assess program and algorithm design.
The ability to multi-task across projects.
