Kofax Selected by In-Q-Tel to Advance Information Extraction Technology

Kofax Mohomine and Ascent Technologies Enhance "Document Exploitation" Capabilities

IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 13, 2004 -- In-Q-Tel, a private venture group funded by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), has signed a development and investment agreement with Kofax to advance technologies for "document exploitation," the analysis and use of documents to extract actionable information.

Kofax, the world's largest information capture vendor, will combine its industry-leading Ascent information capture platform and Mohomine text classification product to support multi-language document exploitation activities conducted by national security and other government organizations, and state and local law enforcement. The initial In-Q-Tel investment is approximately $350,000 for research, development and productization over the next five years.
