More than 70% are statisticians, the remaining (including me) have a data mining or computer science based background. Working together I found the following varieties: wording, theory versus real application, quality versus quantity. Sometimes these lead to bias between the groups appearing as anti-statistical or anti-data-mining attitudes. We harmonised our terminology and accepted that depending on the situation we need different ways to deal with a problem. Learning from each other including things like sampling, building robust models, implementation of scorings in a near real time environment of a data warehouse process, etc. allow us to employ successfully more than 200 scorings on 11 million customer for one-to-one marketing :). My conclusion: Both groups should learn from each other!
