A senior statistician is responsible for identifying projects, producing project plans, performing original research, writing research reports, consulting with Abacus sales personnel and external clients, educating Abacus personnel on proper statistical principles and methodology, and creating SAS programs.

Responsibilities:

• Employs sound statistical principles to create custom models.
• Evaluates and improves current modeling methodology.
• Researches new products and applications of Abacus data.
• Writes code to support modeling and research projects.
• Documents code and research projects.
• Consults with sales and external clients to present research results, provide creative problem resolution, and advise on Abacus products.
• Works with internal departments to troubleshoot a variety custom modeling, production, and data problems Provides training to Abacus personnel.

• Superior knowledge of statistical and modeling principles including sampling, inference, desirable characteristics of variables and models, transformations, validations, etc.
• Knowledge of statistical and modeling methodology including linear and logistic regression, linear correlation, analysis of covariance, factor analysis, etc.
• Ability to conduct large scale projects and research through all stages: concept formulation, definition of metrics, determination of appropriate statistical methodology, research evaluation, and final research report. SAS programming: data step and procedures, macros desirable

• Advanced degree in a Statistics, Mathematics or other related field of study
• 3-5 years experience in statistical field
• 1 year experience conducting original research
• 1 year experience working with external clients in a business environment
• Availability to travel up to once or twice per month
