The collection is a well received web site created in early 1998 (moderated weekly ever since). The WebIR collection is dedicated to the research effort and the achievements of the Information Retrieval & Extraction community in extracting and reusing knowledge from the web. WebIR includes information about IR & IE working groups, Web IR & IE related projects, available software, publications (including PhD dissertations & rare publications), CFP's, online proceedings, etc. URL: http://www.haifa.il.ibm.com/webir/ The WebIR collection also has an affiliated public mailinglist called webir@egroups.com . Since 1998 more than 300 members have subscribed to this strictly moderated mailinglist which keeps the community up-to-date with CFP's, professional tips, and discussions. Most of the members are key researchers in leading commercial and academic search engine groups, such as IBM, Google, AltaVista, Lexis-Nexis, Xerox PARC, Yahoo!, Microsoft, Stanford, U of Washington, CMU, CSIRO, NEC, BT, and many more.
